Craft Tape is a solution for plastic disposable tape dispensers aiming to solve the issue of excessive plastic waste by creating a biodegradable package out of paperboard.
We created a stand-alone single-use tape dispenser system with the usabilities comparable to that of regular plastic ones. The system consists of a multipack of three tape dispensers, including different kinds of tape which can be displayed laying down, sitting up, or hanging on display hooks.
Mood Board
A broad demographic of people use tape, including both genders. We studied the users during our design research phase to create a brand that would appeal to a wide range of audiences. We chose our brand’s overall color palette to include navy for double-sided tape, green for invisible tape, and red for matte tape.
We have created a geometric pattern with a monochromatic color scheme that illustrates efficiency, clarity, and the abstract idea of strength and sharpness. This is a concern for paper-based packages traditionally made out of plastic, which is a much stronger material. The pattern looks attractive on display both at retail and at home or in the office. Our package design features carrying holes, a display window, and clever fold-over tabs for stabilizing the roll of tape within the package.
